This one comes from Uraga, a village up in Ethiopia's East Guji, where Lelise Shonora and her husband Sida Udessa farm at around 2,175 meters. Lelise grew up in it — her father, Shonora Gata, helped put some of the first washing stations in Guji on the map. The cherries dry whole on raised beds, and that's where the berry sweetness comes from.
Guji spent years getting lumped in with Sidama. It doesn't need to be. Fruit-forward, floral, clear as anything — and if you taste something we didn't put on the list, you're probably right.
It's also the Ethiopian half of Space Race, if that's how you know it.
